Activities to Do with Sun Coloring Pages
Don’t let the fun stop once the coloring is done. You can use these sheets to create engaging crafts and educational moments. Here are a few creative ways to use your finished sun masterpieces.
DIY Sun Catchers
Turn your coloring page into a translucent decoration for your window. Color the sun using markers or highlighters, then brush a thin layer of vegetable oil over the back of the paper. Let it dry completely. The oil makes the paper semi-transparent, so when you tape it to a window, the sunlight glows through your artwork.
Daily Weather Station
Use the different sun designs to teach kids about the weather. Cut out a bright sun, a cloud, and a rain drop from your coloring pages. Stick a magnet to the back of each one and place them on the fridge. Every morning, ask your child to look outside and choose the magnet that matches the weather.
Mixed Media Art
Challenge your kids to use more than just crayons. Use glue and yellow yarn to trace the sun’s rays, or sprinkle gold glitter on the center of the sun to make it sparkle. You can even glue dried pasta or yellow buttons onto the page to add texture and depth to the image.
Solar System Mobile
Print the “Solar System Exploration” page and color it in. Cut out the sun and the planets separately. punch a hole at the top of each cutout and tie a string to them. Attach the strings to a wire hanger or a paper plate to create a hanging mobile that spins and shows off the center of our solar system.
“You Are My Sunshine” Cards
These coloring pages make adorable greeting cards for friends and family. Fold a piece of construction paper in half to make a card base. Cut out a colored sun and glue it to the front. Write “You Are My Sunshine” or “Sending You Some Sun” on the front to brighten someone’s day.
Paper Plate Sun Masks
Color one of the larger sun faces, then cut it out carefully. Glue the paper sun onto a sturdy paper plate. Cut out holes for the eyes and attach a popsicle stick to the bottom. Now your child has a fun sun mask for imaginative play or storytelling time.
