Activities to Do with Polar Bear Coloring Pages
Turn a simple coloring session into a full afternoon of Arctic adventure. Here are a few creative ways to use these printables once your kids finish coloring.
Create a Cotton Ball Bear
Polar bears are famous for their thick, fluffy coats. Have your child color the background of the page, but leave the bear blank. Use glue to attach white cotton balls or stretched-out cotton wool over the bear’s body. This adds a fun 3D texture and mimics real fur.
Build an Arctic Diorama
Turn a shoebox into a winter wonderland. Color and cut out several polar bears from the printables. Place the box on its side and decorate the inside with blue paper and white foam for snow. Glue the bear cutouts upright inside the box to create a 3D scene. You can even add sugar cube igloos.
Make Polar Bear Masks
Select a coloring page that features a large polar bear face. After coloring, glue the page onto a piece of sturdy cardstock or a paper plate. Carefully cut out the bear’s head and the eye holes. Attach a popsicle stick to the bottom or punch holes on the sides for a string, and your child can transform into the King of the Arctic.
Write a Winter Story
Use the coloring pages as prompts for creative writing. Ask your child to pick a scene, such as the bear fishing or looking at the moon, and write a short story about what the bear is thinking or doing. This helps build vocabulary and narrative skills while they create art.
Design Holiday Greeting Cards
The pages featuring polar bears with scarves, presents, or Christmas trees make excellent holiday cards. Print the pages at a smaller size (try 50% scale), color them in with glitter pens or markers, and paste them onto folded cardstock. They make perfect handmade gifts for family members during the winter season.
Arctic Fact Sheet
Turn this into a science lesson. On the back of the coloring page, help your child write down three fun facts about polar bears (for example, they have black skin under their white fur). This combines artistic expression with biology and helps them retain what they learn about Arctic wildlife.
