It’s not just “adult” questions and dares you have to look out for either. Some seemingly innocent kids’ Truth or Dare questions can cause a child to become upset, and some dares can be potentially dangerous.

To help you have a successful, fun, and safe family game night, we’ve put together 200 questions for a family-friendly Truth or Dare game.

How to Play Truth or Dare for Kids

Truth or Dare is an incredibly easy game to play.

The rules are simple:

  1. Players take turns to be asked “Truth or Dare.”
  2. The player chooses to either tell the truth when asked a question or carry out a dare.
  3. A question or dare is then selected, and the player either answers the question or does the dare.
  4. Afterward, the next player takes their turn, and so on.
  5. There are no winners and the game ends when players have had enough.

Although it is easy to play, there are issues with some online versions of the game, especially apps you can buy. The game is often geared more toward older teens and adults and can include inappropriate, risky, and even illegal dares.

You don’t want questions or good dares of an adult nature sprinkled into the mix. It’s just as important to ensure there are no potentially dangerous dares or questions that cause embarrassment.

The question, “When did you stop wetting the bed?” could be funny for teens, but a younger child who still wets the bed could feel embarrassed. Likewise, dares that suggest making prank calls, eating or drinking odd items, contacting strangers online, or doing dares in public are not suitable for children and can lead to more extreme risk-taking behaviors (1).

Our version of Truth or Dare doesn’t have any of these prank-style dares. And it doesn’t have any that could potentially cause harm, such as ingesting large amounts of a single food.

Remember, It’s Supposed To Be Fun!

Truth or Dare doesn’t have to be the mildly suggestive game played by adults and older teens. Our family-friendly version has been produced by parents who understand that little ones can take things extremely seriously and that embarrassment can result in mortification-induced meltdowns.

Keep it light, keep it silly, and remember, everyone is supposed to be having fun.
